The equipment

What you get with a BOSS

LED lighting as standard equipment, a blade that trips two ways, a hookup you do standing up, and one truck-side connector instead of a harness tangle. The specifics are what you notice at 4 a.m.

  1. LED headlamps standard, not an upcharge

Every BOSS truck plow ships with LED headlights as standard equipment — SL4 with ClearBeam on the Cold Front Technology plows, SL3 with Ice Shield Technology on the HTX line. BOSS publishes that its SL3 LED package puts out up to twice the light of a halogen package while drawing about half the amperage, which matters on a truck already running a plow pump, a spreader and a heater at 2 a.m.

  2. Heated lenses that stay clear

LEDs run cool, so on a lot of plow lights blowing snow packs onto the lens and stays there. BOSS builds around that: SL3 Ice Shield Technology heats the lens with a thermally conductive grid to prevent ice build-up, and SL4 adds a sealed housing with a temperature-regulated heater grid and a polycarbonate lens. The light keeps itself clear instead of blanking out mid-storm.

  3. The DXT gives you both trip designs in one blade

Most plows make you pick: a trip-edge that rolls over a frost heave without dumping your windrow, or a full-moldboard trip that protects the whole blade in a hard hit. The BOSS DXT is a patented dual-trip design that does both, which is worth having on Maine roads where you meet ledge, manhole rims and frost heaves in the same driveway.

  4. SmartHitch 2 — hook up standing up

SmartHitch 2 is a three-step attach and detach system you run from a stand-up position, so you are not lying in a slush puddle lining up pins. On a route with several drops a season, that is real time back.

  5. SmartTouch controls built for gloved hands

BOSS Cold Front Technology plows use the SmartTouch+ controller, and the HTX and compact-vehicle plows use SmartTouch2. Both are hand-held, in-cab controls laid out so you can work the blade without looking down at it.

  6. One connector instead of a harness tangle

Cold Front Technology merges the power and ground cables and the control wiring into a single truck-side connector, and BOSS says it cuts truck-side wiring installation time by up to half. Fewer connections in the weather is fewer things to chase in February.

  7. One brand covers the whole fleet

BOSS builds for half-ton pickups through medium-duty trucks, plus UTVs and ATVs, skid steers, backhoes, loaders, tractors and dedicated sidewalk vehicles, along with the spreaders to match. You can standardize on one line and one parts shelf instead of juggling three.

  8. BOSS parts on the shelf in Washington

We stock genuine BOSS parts — cutting edges, hoses, solenoids, trip springs, lights and controls — so a mid-storm failure is a drive over, not a week of waiting on a shipment.

  9. BOSS-certified technicians

Straight Blades

Straight Blades

The traditional one-piece plow blade — simple, tough and the fastest way to move snow off driveways, lots and back roads.

3 models

V-Plows

V-Plows

A two-wing blade that opens into a V to bust through a drift, closes into a scoop to carry snow, and lays out straight to windrow — one plow, three shapes.

3 models

Expandable Plows

Expandable Plows

Blades whose wings move on the fly — widen out to clear a big lot in fewer passes, pull in to fit a gate or a drive aisle.

2 models

HTX Personal Plows

HTX Personal Plows

BOSS's lighter-weight line, built so a half-ton pickup can carry a real commercial-grade plow instead of a homeowner blade.

2 models

UTV & ATV Plows

UTV & ATV Plows

Fully hydraulic plows sized for side-by-sides and four-wheelers — no winches, cables or pulleys.

2 models

Box Plows

Box Plows

Wide push boxes with side wings that hold every bit of snow in front of the machine instead of spilling it — the fastest way to clear a big open lot.

4 models

Skid-Steer Plows

Skid-Steer Plows

Put a BOSS blade on the machine you already own — skid steers and mini skid steers take BOSS plows and push boxes for tight lots, alleyways and sidewalks.

3 models

Tractor Undercarriages

Tractor Undercarriages

The frame-mounted bracket that turns your tractor into a plow truck — it bolts to the tractor and becomes the attachment point for the blade.

2 models

Spreaders

Spreaders

Salt and sand spreaders from a walk-behind for the front steps up to a six-yard hopper on a dump body — plowing moves the snow, spreading keeps it from coming back as ice.

8 models

Sidewalk Vehicles

Sidewalk Vehicles

Purpose-built four-wheel-drive machines that clear sidewalks, entryways and narrow paths faster and with far less labor than shoveling crews.
